And I am disappointed but not surprised.

engines are 2.5 4 pot 193 HP, 3.6 V6 (not the new 4.3 in the silverado) 302 HP

A diesel 4 pot will be available in 2nd year of production. 2.8 duramax same engine makes 200 HP and 370 lb-ft in over seas versions - expect it to be restricted for US emissions.

Everything goes through a 6 speed manual - JK automatic. No manual option- can't really blame GM for that one though. .

Meh, not bad not great. They know they have no real competition in this segment, except for the dinosaur Tacoma.

Considering my 4.3L Sonoma makes about 180hp that is a great improvement. Want that diesel though!!!

Not surprising, but I think we all hoped to be surprised.

Good looking and we'll be able to get it with a diesel. If the price is right, it sounds pretty good.

Hopefully this means Volkswagen will bring over the Amarok soon.

In Australia, the only engine we have the 2.8L Diesel, with 6-sp Manual or optional 6-sp Auto

...and a 7-seat SUV version. No-one could accuse either of being attractive, but their proper low-range transfer case drivetrain, as opposed to AWD, redeems in part.

No word of pricing yet- doesn't go on sale until next fall. Silverado starts at 25 so I'd guess this would start at under 20.

I've dealt with 2 VW products in the past and am able to over look their many electronic issues. What I can't overlook is how difficult the cars are to repair yourself. Drives me up a wall.

That said, I'm all for competition so bring it on VW!

They don't have as many electronic issues now, or at least not anymore than the other Germans, but they're much more reliable now. German cars are harder to work on, but I like the challenge and they're actually easier for me to work on compared to American and Japanese cars.
